Would you buy on a busy street?

Hi, I have found a lovely house with a big garden, however it is on a fairly busy street. I'm worried this may affect future saleability hence thought I'd ask if anyone has any pearls of wisdom to offer or share their experience of living on a busy road Thank you

I live on a busy road and the traffic drives me mad. I am not directly on the road - I have a front garden and there is a pavement and grass verge between the front of the house and the road.
Its so noisy, even with newly installed double glazing the traffic noise wakes me early every morning.
It isn't just the noise, I can't leave the front windows open as the dust and exhaust fumes mean the front rooms get dirty really quickly. Also, the street lights are so bright its like trying to go to sleep in daylight - even with thick curtains!
I have lived here for over 50 years and its got much worse over the years I've been here.
Personally, I would never buy on a main road again.
