good morning all grey and dark outside at the moment H/H you poor soul you are really getting it with both barrels at the moment aren't you.SS want to think first before asking kids to relive things like that
<<hugs to those who are feeling down or poorly today>> life certainly seems to be troubling a few of our posters at the moment
Just spoke to eldest DD on Facetime and she is off to her friends wedding later today (their clocks are way behind us in Las Vegas) Her and her OH went on a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon on Wednesday and although she's not keen on heights she said it was a fantastic experience which she's glad she did.
Me, I'm off to Eltham Palace today with youngest DD and three of the DGS,then we may nip over to Bromley to see my sis-in-law afterwards. Its picnic lunch with a flask for us at the Palace, I'm hoping the weather will brighten up later.
Last day of half term and Dds has enjoyed having the week off with the boys. She has got her promotion and next Monday is assistant branch manager with a nice rise which she is quite chuffed about. It will help with all the boys growing like weeds:):)
Right time for a cuppa I think
Cheers chums

Morning all,
HH - Can't believe SS did that!
Csarina - Hope your DH recovers soon.
Woke up to the rain this morning although it's stopping now. There was a beautiful rainbow a little while agoWent down for a blood test first thing - nothing wrong, it's just for the annual health check.
I've got a beetroot chocolate cake in the oven - the one from the Eat Well for Less programme.
Sorted out the spare beds ready for DD and SIL's stay tonight. I have to be up to take her to the Bride's house at 7.30am tomorrow. No lay in for me
Happy Friday all0 -
Morning all,I’ve never been close to any of my siblings although they are all quite close together and both my sisters are close. I’ve never been good enough! There’s quite a bit of historical stuff that I won’t go in to, I am polite but distant with everyone, as it was made clear many years ago where I stand and what they think of me. Fortunately it doesn’t hurt so much anymore, you just learn to live with it.
However the feeling of never feeling quite good enough goes away does it? I'm still wearing the T Shirt unfortunately but it keeps me grounded.:)
Hester, once Social Services are involved with the old and the young, you might as well admit defeat... any authority really.
Anyway,
all is well with me. If i had eggs i'd say i was premenstrual but i think i am going to have to lay off the soya milk for a while. I'm tearful and have sore boobs.
Not much to do in the house today though i'll have lots to do when the men come home tonight.
Onwards and forwards,
have a great day all. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Best wishes to csarina's DH and a hug to nmlc , Judi and hester.
DD came round this morning and brought her cat which I am looking after till tomorrow afternoon. We got all the pet stuff sorted out and then went out for a few bits of shopping, milk, eggs, veg and some sweets for Halloween for my house and both DD's houses.
She popped into the butcher and got a syn free pack of meat which she sorted out into smaller freezer bags to take home and put in the freezer. We had a brunch before she left of SW sausages, egg, bacon and baked beans so that should set us up nicely.
I am not sure if middle dd is coming round tonight or tomorrow but told her just to do what worked for her and if she was really on a roll with study then just keep going or if a cooked meal and company would help then come to me.
I have soup and chicken veg and noodles from yesterday to have tonight but if dd pops round I will make something else.
Hugs to all"This site is addictive!"

Afternoon all
Thank you for all your kind thoughts.
Good wishes to csarina and her DH and a hug to nmlc & Judi
We arrived at hospital to find MIL crying with pain, hubby was very upset and he reacts badly to that sort of thing, so I took over.
I had a very firm discussion with some of the staff about the intelligence of rules that mean MIL is rolled to and fro to change the sheets which causes her great pain, but then she can't have any pain relief as the staff are too busy making beds!
Then I got the 'Well she can't have too much pain relief in case she get's addicted. 'SHE'S FRECKING WELL DYING< WHAT DOES IT MATTER IF SHE BECOMES ADDICTED'.
They did then bring her some tablets and I went walkabout until I found the registrar doing his rounds so I collared him & he's altered MIL's notes to up her pain relief.
A few moments later another nurse turned up and gave her liquid pain relief, so she probably had too much & I don't care!!!
Re DD's foster children, she's been told that all LAC have a life story so that they understand why they are in care, obviously it is correct that they know, but a little bit of tact wouldn't have gone amiss.
Hubby & I have had a chat with them, we didn't mention the life story, we just told them that we are looking forward to seeing them soon and that we love them both very much.
Half term is nearly over & I've hardly achieved a thing, hey ho, such is life.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Hester, I am quite sure a patient in the last stages of cancer should not be given tablet pain relief, what is the matter with them? Thank goodness you found the Registrar. I am glad you had your big knickers on. MIL is so lucky to have you fighting her corner.
My Mum had morphine as end of life pain relief, thank goodness.
My thoughts are with you all

Oh God Hester thats awful. Thank goodness your sticking your neck out for her.
What your MIL needed was a good dose of common sense. Thank goodness she has you. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Evening all,
Big hugs to those who are battling through ill health or who have relatives doing so.
Hester....I would swing for anyone dishing out that ki d of treatment to a loved one of mine.......this obsession with addiction in respect of someone who is dying makes me mad....21years ago when my mother was dying a painful death I was the one administering the morphine as Mother was at home and was happy to be able to keep her reasonably painfree.......good on you for fighting MILs battle for her. As far as the foster children are concerned, no apparent sense there either.
Csarina...so sorry to hear that OH is unwell again......take care of you while he recovers.
Ruby.....I hope that a solution can be found for Noodles, it is so sad that some charities have such limited resources that dogs sometimes have to be PTS, I hope it can be avoided in this case.
Tru....poor you and poor Scampi......difficult to dea l with a 'pulling' dog, Mossy hates a lead so we mainly leave him to roam around the back garden.....he had me up for an hour in the middle of the night last night.......OH spotted him retrieving a rabbit ( dea d) that he obviously nabbed during the night, so he had a nice breakfast! Thought that the fencing around the back was rabbit proof, so must check that tomorrow.
Havecome to the conclusion that we really need to overhaul our eating habits......until I retired I ate 3 meals a day, with several cuppas in between.....most days now we have breakfast anywhere up to noon after which OH rarely eats, except for some nuts, usually salted peanuts and I eat the same dinner over 3 or 4 days, sometimes I just have sandwiches, other times I make a vat of soup which lasts for several days......the worst of it is that when he goes for the paper he will also buy slabs of meat which is on offer.......todays offering was almost 3kg of eye of the round, think thats going into the freezer until we have more of the family around.
Sor ry for rant....hugs to all in need or want of one

Evening all. Today was another day that didn;t go to plan. A caravan "neighbour" rang to tell us their awning had collapsed due to the deluge coming down over the last day or two. One of their end poles had buckled and the whole rear end had collapsed. They checked ours and, although still standing, there was a serious amount of water gathering on the "roof" and it was sagging drastically. As soon as DGD was out of her rehearsal we bundled them all in the car and set off to rescue it!! OMG the roof was weighted down with water and the poles starting to distort. We drained it all off and offered up a prayer for no more rain till after Sunday when we go over to take it down for the winter!
An eventful day for lots of you too by the sound of it. HESTER your MIL's care beggars belief. Good for you but we shouldn't have to do their jobs for them should we! CSARINA hope your DH soon picks up. NMLC hugs. Also RR I feel for you. LAINEY hope something turns up for you soon.
Have a good evening folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0
