Sorry can't help with costs. We had secondary glazing fitted many years ago in a window which was already double glazed this was to try and reduce noise from a busy main road.

When the work was done it was also advised that we had accoustic tiles fitted inside the window along the sides and top( it was a bay window) also to create the biggest possible gap between existing window and new secondary.
The combination of the two greatly reduced the road noise, but did not stop it completely.
  • a unit with a fixed panel in the centre and two horizontal sliding panels either side to get access to the main window.

Bear in mind that you will need to get into the middle section of the window to clean between the original and secondary glazing. A fixed panel may make this impossible and even a large sliding middle panel can be very awkward.

May be easier to get only 2 (larger) sliding panels, even if this means the joints don't overlap with the original window.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.

When I built my house back in the 70's I fitted secondary D/G. It was a kit from Polycell. You assembled it yourself and bought glass to fit. It was a sliding pane system. Easy enough to lift out for access. Didn't look particularly elegant but did provide a reasonable amount of sound reduction. If you Google Polycell secondary glazing.you come up with a company that appears to have bought rights to the system. Though I doubt whether they are still self assembly.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
