Default help!

Hi,

Around 5 years ago my virgin card was defaulted. Arrow global took this debt, I've happily been paying them £40 a month since then, however, in June my payment was returned, I contacted them and they said in January my debt was passed to Capquest, I called capquest who said my last payment was December. Which is incorrect, they said send proof of payment to them which I did in July. They thanked me and put my account on hold while dealing with it with arrow. Two weeks ago I get a call from debt managers saying they now have the debt and my last payment was Dec! Checked with arrow this is correct they moved the debt to debt mgrs, can't comment I have to deal with debt mgrs. So I've now sent proof of payment to them for the last 6 months payments.

It's starting to really stress me out as I can't get through to anyone who can help and it seems arrow just keep passing the debt around and I don't know why!! I was reading some stuff online, is it because they can restart the default under a new company? I'm so close to the default dropping so scared this is the case!

Anyone else had any similar problems? Or know how I can get this rectified? I've been dealing with it for 4 months with no success.

Thanks!

They cannot start the default again. It will go, and when it was gone cannot come back.

Perhaps worth making a formal written complaint to Arrow, saying that they keep passing the debt from one collector to another but fail to ensure that they are kept up to date with your past payments, resulting in undue distress and work on your part having to put right their errors. Say that you will be taking the matter to the FOS if they do not resolve your complaint and guarantee this will not happen in the future, and that you also feel that you should be compensated for the effort and distress this has caused.

May be worth contacting the FOS right away as well, as often they will agree to write an initial letter on your behalf, even if it's too early for them to take the complaint on formally.
