As the above poster says, finding a good one is the hard bit. Care to post his name on here, so we can all use him - of course, his speed of response and reliability might drop a little if we all do that ...
Oh and other poster re the carbon monoxide monitor. Quite right - though must get one ... BG have never tried to sell me one, but do say every time that they recommend I get one. A subtle, but appreciated difference.0 -
Funnily enough they did mention the lack of a carbon monoxide monitor last time they came. Gave me a price when I asked.
Not pushy in any way. I will get around to fitting one myself eventually.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

One step ahead, got one already but thanks for the heads up0 -

Yes, that sounds easy, doesn't it? Competent plumbers who are available at short notice are like hens teeth where I live."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
Boiler breakdowns tend to occur during cold snaps, so the nationals are overwhelmed anyway and end up subbing the work to the same independent RGI's that you say are impossible to get hold of in an emergency. Plenty of independents offer an annual service and breakdown service-these aren't necessarily sole traders.
A well maintained pipework system doesn't just start leaking out of the blue, it usually leaks due to neglect or being improperly lagged, freezing and then bursting as it thaws. And a leak on a CH system does not usually require an emergency call out anyway, unlike a burst on a mains supply. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Sorry it's taken me so long to answer your question. Yes we have everything covered. Unfortunately, my husband didn't mention he had extended the cover so when we sprang a leak in the bathroom I had the huge hassle of finding a plumber on a Sunday when I was due to drive to Scotland for work the next day. Important that everyone knows what's covered and the website does make it very clear.
