Rejected by Aqua?

Hi everyone.

I've just been rejected by Aqua, literally no idea why since it's supposed to be the credit card to build your credit. I applied for the Aqua Classic with 35.9% APR.

I'm a student and hold an EE contract and a bank account with an age of 33 months.

What should I do now? Can I appeal, do you think there is any point?

It could be linked to the Electoral Roll issue you have

Do you have a regular income?
  • I signed up to check my file and I show up for CallCredit and Equifax but not Experian yet.

Don't bother credit reference agency spill means nada so just a waste of time, If you are refused on the low end credit card applications try another similar one ie :- Vanquis and the likes.
  • Hi thank you for your reply. I'm not sure what you're trying to say?

I was using the checkmyfile website to check if I show up as on the electroral roll because I changed my name last year. I do for Callcredit and Equifax but not for Experian for some reason.

Do you still think I should try Vanquis? I really want to start building up my credit score.

Give Vanquis a go but pay off in full to save any costs as there not cheap by all accounts, I'm saying credit ref agencies are a load of rubbish and you can have a perfect score according the system they have in place but that will not mean you will get a black credit card with a very high amount on it, There are many other factors involved and credit agency is a type of scam to put it bluntly.
  • Thank you again for your help. I gave Vanquis ago and was accepted with a 59.9% APR :eek:

As I'm using this card to build my credit, I plan to spend about 20-20% of my credit limit every month and pay off in full regularly. What I would like to know is once someone has built up a decent credit history with this kind of card, when do I get rid of it and if I do will that affect my credit score? (This would be after already owning a card that is much better)

My daughter's application for an Aqua Reward card was declined last year, then Aqua began sending her mail inviting her to apply for an Aqua 'Start' card with 59.9% APR, presumably with a better chance of acceptance. (She had already moved to Thailand.)
