Gas engineer needed to move pipe in kitchen - Birmingham

We are knocking down our wall between kitchen and dining room so need to relocate the gas for the hob. I have tried advertising on Myhammer and Mybuilder for someone to do this but no luck! Had two people come out to quote and so far haven't actually quoted or replied to messages.

Does anyone know a registered Gas Safe engineer in Birmingham who can undertake this job?

Did they tell you there and then how much it was likely to be?

Moving one gas pipe isn't something that needs lots of calculating.

  • No they said needed to think how to do it since pipe route goes from upstairs but we can't lift floorboards upstairs due to fitted wardrobes.

Is a builder knocking the wall for you? If so, I would use their gas guy to do it.

The job isn't big enough for most people to bother with, but then is complicated by the route - which will put people off.

If it is something that needs rectifying for a safe knock- through, the builder should be able to use leverage on the person he normally uses.

I can't recommend you mine as I know he's busy and that he'd raise an eyebrow if it weren't associated with a chunkier job for him. If it were my job, I could easily leverage something small like that against everything else we've given him this year and our relationship, iyswim. You don't have that.

I think your builder is your best bet.
