Hope someone has an Idea..? I have been informed by Maximus that I must apply for at least 10-15 jobs whilst I am at their mandatory job-search every week for 90 mins. I laughed when the advisor first told me this as I was pleased that I'd applied for 2..!!!! I have quite a few questions regarding this work programme but thought I'd air this one for starters as it just seems so stupidly unrealistic...!!?

10-15 jobs per week or in ninety minutes? The former is more than reasonable, the latter I would be suggesting a quality application takes longer than that.0

Agree with above, no way you can you apply for that many jobs in 90 minutes. One application can take that long or longer to do if done well."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

There's nothing to stop them for doing that and there's nothing to stop them informing the job centre to sanction you if you don't.
However, it's not realistic and you could appeal the sanction on that basis, along with proof that you have applied for jobs within the job search session. So long as you're applying for jobs it should be overturned, but there's no guarantee as once on a WP they state you should be following what they say.0 -
Even if I put NO thought into what I was doing, I think I would struggle to physically get through 15 applications in 90 minutes.0

Do they mean 90 minutes daily? That seems more reasonable.0

I can do nearly 100 applications in that time

If you go on the Reed website it tells you how many people have applied for each job. Many of the jobs, even the crap ones, have 100+ applications! I'm guessing this is where people are told they have to apply for a certain number of jobs per week? It's so easy just to attach a generic CV and press send.0
-
Yes but you should tailor the CV and covering letter to each application. Go back to them and explain this.0

It is only worth creating a customised cv for the jobs that will pay you enough to live on. For the rest, just use a generic cv instead.
Mind you, a huge number of vacancies on sites like Reed are from agencies, so the cv you send with the application won't be the cv the agency pass on to their client. They wil have doctored it to fit their standard profile.Never Knowingly Understood.
