Hi both banks have accepted they have sold me ppi. What is the likelihood of a refund?
I have three cards which had average balances of £5k on each. I had all cards for about 12 years each. Could it be a decent payout?
Thanks in advance.

You tell us. They won't just give you money for nothing. They are businesses not charities and it is part of their job to sell products.
So why do you think they should give you a refund?0 -
Thanks but not that helpful.
I know i would never have asked for ppi. I get full pay for 6 months and half pay for another 6 months if I'm off sick and have told them this.
I was looking for some advice on what a positive outcome might be.0 -

My original post was as helpful as could possibly be based on the non-information provided. You asked what the likelihood was of you getting a refund, but failed to provide any reason why they would consider giving you a refund. You are not entitled to money back just because you had a policy. With that in mind your question was impossible to answer.
As regards the information above I think you are going to need something better than that. I used to work in this field and have seen any number of cases where the complainant has sworn blind to the same, only for signed paperwork to turn up, or a call recording, confirming the exact opposite. Sometimes people just don't remember, a lot of times they have read CMC propoganda and, encouraged by the desire for money, convinced themselves that they couldn't possibly have just thought the cover might be a valuable safety net in the event of long term sickness or job loss. But this allegation is one that can never really be proved in your favour, only disproved. Hence it would be difficult to get such a complaint upheld, unless there are other reasons that we don't know about.0 -
Thanks I'm really confident I didn't knowingly take out ppi.0

So, according to your original post you have had 3 credit cards wih average balances of around £5000 for the past 12 years. Any PPI paid would have been itemised separately on every single statement, over this period, more than 400 in total.
It beggers belief that in the light of your claim that you would never have asked for PPI you continued to pay the considerable amounts involved for such an extended period of time without questioning it.
This is a pathetic, unsophisticated wind up isn't it.0 -
Thank you for your incredibly helpful reply. My understanding is that ppi is not always itemised and the companies in question have written to say they are investigating to see if the ppi was mid sold.0

On CREDIT CARD PPI (not loan) it would be on every single statement as it is a debit that increases your balance (if it was hidden then your total sum of purchases wouldn't add up to the total balance). It is a claims company myth that it could be in any way hidden. Copies of your statements would show this (and would be your proof that you paid PPI in case there is any confusion).
Be prepared to prove you had the 6/6 sick pay but for a credit card that could be a good reason why PPI would not be needed (I assume you are civil service or ex-civil service so redundancy is effectively guaranteed unlike a private firm that could fail and leave no money)Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
