Gym steam room broke for over a month (told after that I should of went to other gym)

I am a member of DW fitness gym. My membership allows me to go to the Liverpool and the Widnes gyms. I live right next to the Liverpool one (0.5 miles) and the Widnes one is nearly 9 miles away from where I live.

The steam room at the Liverpool gym was out of order for over a month, am I entitled to compensation as I did not get what I am paying for?

I have spoke to the gym's manager who said I should of went to the Widnes one and that there is nothing they can do.

Am I entitled to anything here?

Cheers for reading all that

What do the terms and conditions say about closing facilities for repair or maintenance?
Did you ask the question when it first happened about alternatives?
Given that the rest of the gym was still working and available for you to use, what are you actually asking for in monetary value?

(And sorry to be the grammar police, but it's "should have gone" not "should of went," just in case you decide to follow it up further.)

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

but your not just paying for the steam room on its own your membership covers all the other stuff too. If asda run out of branston beans are you entitled to compensation? no you just go elsewhere.
Did the manager smile at you when you asked him for compensation, or did he burst out laughing, pretty sure i'd of fallen over laughing at such a ridiculous idea.

If you had signed a contract with Asda and pre-paid them money to make sure that Branston beans would be available for you to purchase and they failed to honour their part of the agreement, then yes, you may well be entitled to compensation.

Yeah, I think that was a poor analogy.

The problem is that the steam room is a SMALL PART of the service which they provide. You are thus either entitled to no compensation, or a little bit (which may not be worth the hassle).

Also, one must query whether you inspected the venue before signing the contract and whether the steam room was broken prior to commencement of the contract. This is potentially important as it may have been possible for you to be aware that the steam room was currently out of commission.

I raised a similar issue with the gym go to (chain, but not DW) about broken flooring left unfixed for months - my emailed the gym manager and copying in the company CEO. Lo and behold, phonecall from the gym manager soon after to say that they will be getting it fixed :D

Maybe send your complaint straight to the top?
