    Thanks Helena,

It just doesn't seem fair that I'm out of pocket, all be it by only £2, because some computer somewhere has deemed that I used more gas than I actually have, that's all.

Off topic but who do I speak to about an incorrect meter number? This is the electricity. First Utility were supposed to have sorted this, and they did have the correct meter number on my bills for a while so I presumed it was resolved. However, I notice at some point it's reverted back to the original and incorrect number.

    Morning Shrimply,

I agree, you shouldn't be out of pocket by any amount, however, small.

Although there may be a little discrepancy, the reads should match and you wouldn't double pay.

I think you're going to need to give us a ring, it'll be specialist guys that need to look at this and also look at the meter number issue, it sounds like it was never updated properly on the national database.

I'm sorry I can't give you numbers on here, but if you go on the website and look at phone numbers, you'll find it on there.

But do come back to me if you're struggling.

    Helena :)

I am sorry but the above two statements contradict each other.

I switched away from E.oN in Jul/Aug. I provided my new supplier with an actual meter reading on the day of the switch. The final adjusted reading was 105C3Ms higher than the actual reading that I gave.

As my new supplier charges less for gas than E.oN, the marginal extra cost to me of this adjustment in E.oN's favour is £1.72 including VAT.

Most people would regard this as being 'out of pocket'.

Just an update. I sent an email to E.ON regarding the meter readings and incorrect serial number.

They offered me £5 to cover the difference in cost between the estimated reading and actual reading.

And in regard to the meter number. I've been told.

"The electricity meter serial numbers in Scotland are longer than can be used on the database.

The solution to this problem is that they register the first 3 digits and the last 5 digits on the database off the meter serial number
    "

Seems totally and utterly bonkers, so the actual meter number is P##7-72-##### and is on the database as P##94#####.

Anyway, can't really complain at all at the resolution or the detailed response. Well done E.ON.
