    You are frustrated because you want to buy in an area where there is a high wage economy and fierce competition from those on higher rates of pay.

    Back in the 1960s, I moved to the London area to maximise my earning potential, as there was nothing much for me in Devon where my folks and friends lived.

    After a few years, I moved again and changed career, as it was pretty obvious London and its surrounds were not meeting my needs.

    I didn't go back to my former home, but I found a compromise location where there was work and an affordable environment I liked.

    I don't think much has changed.
