...But have a huge problem, and i dont know where to turn to!!! :-(

Changed bank accounts(BOS to RBS) & the BOS sent me a letter this morning as i had expected saying my account has now closed with them, and my acc card with them does not work anymore. However i had expected the RBS to have sent me out my new card/pin by then. On the phone just their to the RBS i go and they said sorry, they havent sent me the cards out, it will take up to a week....& heres where the problem is.....i go to the States Sun. Have hotels and a rental car booked on my name & card. I have no CC or other bank account cards.....what can i do. RBS said i can go into the bank and lift money from the BOS but that they wont be able to reactiviate my cards......i said about the hotel/car and they said sorry, nothing we can so, take travellers cheques. They gave a reason, something like "they sent my account to get opened at the service centre but they sent it back saying the branch was to optn it" so the BOS got notification to close my account before RBS had sorted my cards/details for the other!!!!!



...What can i do about rental cars and hotels?? Will they except trav. cheques and account details. This is terribile.

Your biggest problem that I can foresee is the car rental, as they will require a card imprint from you.

Hotels have individual policies, some will insist on a card imprint, some do not. You will need to contact them directly to check.

Do you not have any other cards?

No other cards. Cancelled Credit cards, thats all. I knew i shouldnt have cancelled them before this trip!!!

Im so worried about the car rental. Its starwood hotels i staying at. Booked with a card, but ill arrive with that card invalid and wanting to pay cash

I just don't understand why you have done this before going on holiday.

Will the holiday be Ok without the car? If so call the hotel and ask if they will accept traveller's cheques or a transfer from the bank.

Also talk to the car hire company and ask if they will accept a large amount of money as security by direct transfer from the bank.

I have only stayed at one Starwood, and though I could pay the final bill in cash, I did have to leave a card imprint for any extras. I don't usually like doing so, but they were very insistent.

You need to contact these people now, before you travel. I am sure they will have come across the situation before, so if you give them sufficient notice hopefully they will be able to make arrangements for you.

i'm pretty sure by law you can rent a car in NY state without a credit card...you may have to find the rules in the state you are hiring from
