Background Check for new rental

I recently found a place and the landlord originally said she had someone who was a realtor that would run a credit check and background check on me after I filled out an application. Well I spoke with her today and they said she said they no longer do that, considering she isn't directly working with them, more so working with me. So she would like me to just get the reports and give them to her. The credit report is easy as I already have that but there are a million sites out there and according to a few of who I spoke with by law, like checkmate, intellius, etc, they say they are not to be used for reasons like that. I am just looking to run my criminal etc, background check on me. So my question is, is there a site that realtors use that I can also use to run a report and submit to her or should I try and search out a realtor and ask them to run one for me even though I am not using there services. Also most sites are asking for a monthly fee. I am just looking to run one report on myself because that is all I need.
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you in the US?
in the UK none of this happens.
in the UK:
Letting agent charges applicant and does a basic credit check, employment check and references.
Certainly i would never hand over a DBS and a Credit report to a letting agent - just asking for identity theft0 -
I am in the US and its required, I am learning by searching this site its mostly UK. I wasn't sure until I saw another post about seeking advice about other topics.0
