Would they be likely to change the names on the tickets without payment? Then give them cash for tickets = does that make sense?! Or I guess I could pay a deposit by Paypal - they change ticket names - I pay rest in cash?
  • Good question, I can see the risk/concern from both sides. At least if you live in the same town there is much less risk of either party trying to 'pull a fast one' - 'cos you both know where each of you live... (that sounds very bad English)

I think it would be a good idea for you to contact the seller and agree all of these things before you place a bid, that way if you win both of you know where you stand.

The seller may also not have considered all of the possible pitfalls - like the buyer not paying promptly enough, so they can't change the names in time and then miss the post - then the buyer would do a chargeback - possible 'item not as described'? - you need to have tickets before the flights otherwise they are worthless.

If I was the seller I would be very happy to sell to someone local, they can pay cash and pick up the tickets - there is no risk of the tickets getting delayed or lost and no Paypal fees. You could perhaps agree to pay £80 up front to cover the change of name and the rest on collection?

Hmm, not in the same league as a holiday, financially, but there's a couple of items in his f/b where a buyer won the item but he wouldn't part with it, presumably because he didn't think the item had reached it's true worth.

I'd be very careful - how long does it take, after he receives payment, for the ticket names to be changed? It's cutting it very fine!
I only exist in my own mind - if you can see, hear or read me, you are a product of my imagination.
  • I spotted the 2 instances of refusing to sell boots/shoes for 7p etc too. The thing with this is that any money is better than none, 'cos if he's not happy with the final bid he will lose everything - it will be too late to put it up for auction again.

That was why I suspected a bit of shill bidding by bidder no 2 - but I could just be paranoid.

Have spoken to the seller, collection of tickets is absolutely fine - the name change is immediete (sp) its just the ticket printing but they can be arranged for collection at the airport. I also saw the 7p shoes, but I think he'll take what he can't get for the hol otherwise he loses everything!

Going to put ax bid in last min.....oooo the excitement, I really hope it comes off...Toddler & I desperado for some sunshine. I will pay by Paypal as well, just to be safe!

Thank you for the reviews, I also viewed holiday watchdog! I just love Tenerife!
