It's on the market because he's a waster and has said he's going to buy the house but he couldn't find his ar se with both hands, make excuses at every step of the way, neither of them live in the property which is empty but she is covering the full mortgage cost because he is a sad excuse of a man.

But she can't sell unless he agrees- so your messing buyers about.

So what does that make her/you?!
  • Guest101 you sound very opinionated and thank you for your opinion.

So your going to ignore the point?

Buyers will spend thousands on applications, solicitors, surveys only to face a let down because your partner and her ex are behaving like children?

And she'll still be paying the mortgage, so there's no actual benefit to you or her.

Best bet would be rent the house out and split the rent with the ex. That way everyone wins- surely that's better?

I think you are probably quite biased against the ex, but at the end of the day you and your partner can do things right and get the result you both want, or you can continue to cause stress for yourselves.

It's no skin off my nose, but I suspect no-one has actually put it like this to either of you up until now.
  • If there had been more than one offer since the property had been on the market (30 months) then I'd probably listen to you, and as I don't want to share the full details of the situation with armchair estate agents like yourself I'll leave this post, happy that my initial question has been answered.

    Arm chair estate agents?

    How very dare you :)

Good luck to you, your partner, her ex and most importantly the buyers.

The OP's partner could take the house off the market.

Tell ex she has done so but expects him to be able to exchange and complete within three months or the house goes back on the market, if necessary with a court order to sell (and the costs of this will be deducted from his share of the proceeds .....)
