in Credit cards
hi ppl,
This has probably been covered but here goes
I have never owned a credit card before so basically can i join up with nectar, make one small purchase lets say in sainsburys for £2.55, pay the amount on time and cop 5000 nectar points in the process, & in theory cut the card into pieces never to be seen again. I know this may sound daft but i have always avoided credit cards my whole life and i am 95% certain but wanted to make sure before i went ahead with it
Any advice would be appreciated:money:

Where does the 5000 points come from ? Are they running a promotion on new cards ?
What's your credit rating like ?0 -
My advise would be to forget nectar and get real cash back from EGG Money credit card by using it for all purchases and definetly clearing the balance each month. How much do you get for 5000 nectar point (£5 ??). Not worth the effort.
John
Just been advised 5000 = £25 still don't think it's worth the effort.0 -
hi there, i have never owned one(believe it not), so i guess its exceptional, basically been made reduntant recently, too old i think to regain employment so i thought it would be nice to treat my grandchild to a gift (5000 nectar points=£25 as far as im aware) and use these multi-billion pound indusrties for what there worth, heres a link to expalin all, thankyou very muchhttp://www.nectar.com/dynamic/estores/retailer/americanexpressWith a little bit of luck we can make it through the night!0

5000 points = £25 in various stores or up to the value of approx £50 against a purchase from Nectar.
Having now explained your circumstances I'd advise against it as you may not get the card being unemployed and having not had a credit card before.
It would be a waste as the search will get recorded on your file. It's not wise to have pointless credit searches on your history.0 -
i will now not go ahead with this and really whole heartidly thankyou for your advice, all the bestWith a little bit of luck we can make it through the night!0
