I wonder if somebody could help please.
1/ I down loaded Windows 10to my HP laptop and I seem to have lost a lot of my files. I have done a search on line and tried some of the suggestions but they are not working. I have not downloaded any suggested software..
2/ I went to my back up memory stick - a Corsair and that is not being read by either the laptop or the Mac.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many thanks in advance

Unless you opted for a clean install, no data files should have been lost. Look for a windows.old directory on the system drive and browse (or search) through that for a file you believe was deleted.
As for the USB stick, when was the last backup made and were you able to access it after that? Try it in another Windows computer if you can. They do fail and sods law says they will fail when most needed, so you might just be unlucky that both problems happened simultaneously...I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Had it not been working only on the windows PC, then i'd have said it was a windows issue, BUT as you say it's the same on another device, then i'm afraid one has to deduce that it's failed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Thanks for the quick replies.
I have had a look through Windows Old and there is nothing more than I can see in the current. I am not sure what more I can do to search it, but I went through a lot of folders under Windows old.
I didn't think the two were linked, but wondered if there was any way I could get back into the USB as I have seen talk about partitioning, but I would not be confident enough to either without a bit of direction through the process.0 -

The Windows search feature is utterly useless now, it only searches specific folders, not the whole PC. Sometimes even if a file is visibly inside a specific folder, the search "feature" still won't find it and wild card searches seem to be random, you just cannot rely on it at all.
I use "Everything" from http://www.voidtools.com/, I can totally recommend this search tool. At first run it takes a little while to build it's first file index (give it an hour), but it will truly search everything on your system, including attached USB drives. If your files are there and you can remember some file names, this tool will find them.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
