How do you remove a floating frame from an Open Office spreadsheet?

I inserted a floating link to 'my pictures' accidentally, but 'Help' doesn't appear to state how to remove it. I expect it's in the edit option but I can't work out how to select the frame to do this (right-clicking does nothing).

I don't know about OO and what a 'frame' is.
In Excel I use small pictures with links. To delete one I use right-click that selects the object and opens a short drop-down menu. Then I use Esc to close the menu while leaving the object selected. Then I use Delete.

I might start a new thread entitled :

"Why do people post questions on here and have people do their googling for them"

The first result if you google your question, contains the paragraph :-

    Delete A Frame
    1. Click on the border of the frame to select it. (The green handles will appear.)
    2. Press the delete (Del) key on the keyboard to remove the frame and its contents.
Delete A Frame Without Deleting Text
    1. Click inside Frame, select/highlight all text.
    2. Click the Cut Frames_html_5545f6bb.jpg icon (text is copied to clipboard)
    3. Delete the frame by pressing the Delete key.
    4. Click the Paste Frames_html_m242881.jpg icon to paste the text onto document. (Text appears on document.)

    You're welcome

Firstly, I don't expect anyone to Google for me, I was only expecting answers from people who already know.
Secondly, I did look at that exact page, and found that clicking the border also just brought up 'my pictures'. Hence the request for ways to select.

My question would be why Openoffice ?

Libreoffice is far better and much more actively worked on, it's now being recommended by the UK Government in collaboration with Collabra:

Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.
  • I'm not sure if this is the 'correct' answer, but I was having a similar problem. It might sound silly. but I don't know if I was having trouble with floating frames, or with text boxes, as I had been trying both.
No amount of clicking would 'select' the offending items, but when I eventually selected enough cells to completely 'surround' the stuff I wanted to get rid of, then I was able to use the delete key to remove the stuff.
    Hope this helps.
