E.on billing problems

Why, o why do I bother with utility companies? Once again, Eon are messing me about following a change of tariff having switched to MSE's collective switch on September 15. As I wasn't told of the date of switch the earliest meter readings I could give was 20th September. Guess what? Bill sent on 21st October with estimated readings! I have just spent all morning trying to sort out this bill only to be told that should I have the readings for the switch date they will change the bill.Perhaps this is one for the Eon rep?

    Good morning diamond dave,

    I'm sorry you're getting the run around.

    Normally when a tariff change happens the meter reads for that specific day are estimates. So we'll bill up to that day on the old tariff then from on the new tariff.

    However, if the customer provides meter reads for the day the tariff changed, we can use those reads for billing. Or you can pop them on the online account.

    As the collective switches are done by a specific team, the tariff should change from the date on the email.

    If you have the reads though and some up to date reads, we should be able to produce a revised bill, is there a lot of difference?

  • Thanks for your feedback, Helena. The thing that really irks me is the fact that all was required on 15 September was an email requesting the readings. As I wasn't told of the switch until the 20th that was the earliest readings I could provide. To cap it all I've just spent all morning trying to sort out the problems- only to be told at the last minute that should I be able to provide the readings for the 15th, the bill could be amended. why couldn't I have been told this in the first place? Would have saved a lot of grief! Anyway will call back tonight with the correct readings.
