Laptop Screen

Options
My laptop from time to time will just go blank. You can hear the system is still running but nothing brings to screen back.

I did e-mail manufacturers but they have not replied :(

Any ideas what could be causing it? I don't really no where to start in trying to work out what it is.

Thanks in advance!!

I would turn powersaving features off just to rule that out, I know we want to save power on a laptop but just turn it off for a few days and see if it makes a difference. if it doesnt then it could be a fault with the laptop.

With display problems, the usual suspect is the video card drivers. Do you know what video card you have? If not:
    Start>Run
    Dxdiag
    Go to the display tab.
In the top left box, who is the manufacturer? It will most likely be either:
    ATI, Nvidia or Intel.
If it is ATI, go to their driver download page and get the latest drivers.
If it is Nvidia, go to their driver download page
If it is Intel, go to their driver download page.

You can either install it straight away, or if you have more time, you should do it the proper way and:

Go into the control panel > Add/remove programs.
Find anything related to graphics drivers and uninstall them.
    Restart.
Windows may try and install the default drivers. Stop it.
    Install the drivers you downloaded.
    Reboot.

Hopefully, the problems should be fixed.
If the problem gets worse, or something goes wrong, then go:
Control pannel > System > Hardware Tab > Device manager.

Go down to the display adapters, and hit the little plus sign. There, you should see the graphics card. Double click it and go to the driver tab, and hit the 'Driver rollback' button. This should take you back to how it was before you uninstalled the old drivers.
