Huge Electricity Bills

Hi Hengus
Thank you, I've posted because I can't understand why my electricity usage has shot up so much since May 14 and the arrears and the resulting new DD are frightening. All I have to go on at the moment are the meter readings
I'll certainly ask for that certificate but I'm not clear how it will help me, which leaves me at the moment suspecting the meter0 -
I don't think you need look any further than the oil filled radiators trying to maintain 22 degrees. These are probably costing you 50p an hour ! £40 a weekNever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0

Thanks Robin, I'm turning them off now! Having said that, we've used them for several years without any problem until this year and as I said above, we only try to warm the kitchen and living room up in the evening. I'll carry on monitoring.0

If your meter is definitely a single rate , then try the 1kwhr test. Every thing off in the house, including fridges/freezers and find a 1 kwhr 1 bar electric fire and use it for one hour.should use 1 unit only. That will rule out a faulty meter.0
