I work in care and it's the same sort of thing. Every Christmas rota we are lucky to see befor 2 to 4 weeks before, lucky if it's earlier. Sadly if there's a need for workers theres a need for workers and ultimately it's a normal day just with a title:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

I agree but it is lazy, incompetent and sometimes bullying managers who cant be bothered to sort it all out in a timely mannerFeudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
December 26th is simply Saturday with a title of 'Boxing Day'. It's not a BH this year.
However, even if it was a BH, there is no lawful right to not work on a Bank Holiday anyway. Bank Holidays are not protected or special. There's no right to additional pay or a day in lieu, either. You are entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday, so as long as you're getting that, then that's your entitlement.
Of course, if you have a contract that *does* allow BHs off, or additional pay or days in lieu, that's different, and that's what you should go by.
If you are contracted to work on Saturdays, or BHs, then it's just tough, I'm afraid. And as it's not a BH anyway, then it's just annoying and inconvenient for you all. It's the business' decision whether to open or not - obviously if it is indeed really quiet then they'll lose money, but that's their choice, unfortunately.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0
