I don't believe there is really £000's to save on energy bills!

I don't get why comparison sites get a lot of stick over receiving commission for introducing customers to suppliers, providers, other companies, etc.
I'd rather fill out a form once and see a whole of market comparison in one results table, than go on all 30 odd supplier websites and do it myself. Some people may enjoy doing this though?
I've just switched to E.on's collective tariff arranged by Uswitch, which I wouldn't have found if it weren't for price comparison sites.0 -
The advertised massive savings are mostly available to people who take no interest at all in their energy costs and, almost by definition, those are the people who are least likely to discover the way to benefit.
There is not much discussion on here about the turnaround in energy tariffs which has taken place in the last couple of years. Not very long ago, the MSE mantra was 'fix now and avoid imminent price rises'. In those days, you paid more for a fixed price tariff.
The mantra today is 'switch now and avoid standard tariffs'. In these days, you pay less for a fixed price tariff.
There are now dozens of companies which all claim to be better than the others at supplying an identical pair of products (gas and electricity) whilst having no say at all in the quality of the products nor any control over the the reliability of supply. Most of them also appear to have no control over their IT systems nor their levels of customer service.
