LED infrared motion mirror

We have just done up our bathroom. Wondering round Costco we spotted a display of LED mirrors which turned on/off using an infrared sensor on the bottom. The mirrors on the shelf didn't match the display so I asked a member of staff about it. Was told it was an old display waiting to be changed for new stock. The new stock didn't meet our requirements.
My husband asked if they would sell us the mirror on display. They said no as it had to be returned to the manufacturer. So we left. Only to be tracked down by another member of staff saying we could have it for £50. Shelf price was £160. So we took it.
Mirror was installed on Friday, all good. Saturday it started flickering on and off, when you walked in or out, wouldn't work waving your hand under it just very random.
Sparky told me part of the sensor is missing. It should be flush with the edge of the mirror but instead there is a hole up inside the mirror.
Have phoned Costco and they will take it back. Do we return and get something new or do we try and replace the sensor? Any experience?!

Possibly causes of flickering faulty lamps, sensor, pcb, loose connection, deterioration of other component, wired incorrectly etc Whats impossible is for it to have worked fine then not if the sensor was not there I smell !!!!!!!!,,,, :rotfl:0
