E.On Quality Review
I had a wee search for this but didn't see anything so I wonder if anyone else has had experience of it.
I'll start with a bit of the background story. I moved house in April and dutifully called the electricity and gas provider, E.On, with my meter readings. Without giving it too much thought I was put on a one-year fix. A day or two later I checked comparison sites and decided I wanted to change to a not-big-six provider. Well within the cooling-off period, they cancelled my fix and moved me to the variable tariff. Then I switched away, have had my final bill and everything is fine.
However, today I received a letter from E.On titled "Quality Review":
I thought that was a little strange.
Has anyone else received a letter like this? Did you contact them? What did they say?
I'm just curious really!
I don't remember the exact details of a conversation I had over 6 months ago so have no idea at all how clear they made it that I'd be paying more. To be clear, I did know I would be paying more, because I knew their rates and standing charges, and my objective was to be free to leave, not to save money with them. Does telling me the rates and charges count as being clear? I suspect the regulator is keen to protect the number-phobic too!
The letter reads like an invitation to complain and part of me can't help thinking there could be a few quid in this for me! Any thoughts?

We've recently done some quality checking... Before you switched, we gave you a quote for how much your bills were likely to be with us. In your case, this appears to have been more than you were paying previously, and we should have made it clear to you that you would be paying more.
If we didn't explain that you could end up paying more with us, please give us a call...

Morning phona,
It sounds like your account may have been affected and that we might have given you the wrong information when you chose to switch to us.
We're writing to customers like yourself and apologising for getting it wrong.
I think the best thing to do is to speak to us and we'll offer further information, or there's some useful stuff on our website, I'm sorry I can't post links.:o
Then you can take it from there.
Thank you
Helena
