Halifax Clarity Application Rejected

I've just made an application for a Halifax Clarity card and was fairly surprised that I was rejected.

My Noddle score is 4/5. I have one other credit card and the limit has recently been increased by the provider to £2,700 from £1,200, but this does not yet show on Noddle.

I am a private renter and have lived at this address for over three years, however I have bank accounts registered to both my parents address and my own. Recently I have been taken off the electoral register at my parents and moved to my own address. Could this have an impact? Noddle shows my parents address however I applied for this card with my own.

I also entered £1500 as a desirable credit limit, would this have an impact on whether I am accepted? In reality I wish to use this card for travel and would be in a position to pay it off quickly to free up the ability to spend.

Is it worth re-applying with a different address and a lower requested limit, or alternatively do other cards have less strict criteria?

It is very important you are on the electoral roll at your current address. I would make this a priority.

The credit limit you requested is small (depending on your income) so not worth requesting a lower one.

I would advise waiting a few months before re-applying for the clarity card again ensuring you are on the electoral register at your new address when you do
  • The Clarity seems to have a notoriously tough approval criteria! Many people on here have appealed with some success, so you could try that.

  • hello mate

I applied for clarity credit card as well in may to be be precise and they rejected my application as well. So i appealed and then they rejected that as well.

So i opened a halifax reward account with them and then after 4 months applied again and got accepted online with £3000 limit, even though its lower than any of the other credit cards i currently have but it will be reviewed after 6 months,

They are very tough with their approvals, as when they refused me i had amex gold and platinum along with satander 123 and 8 other prime credit cards.

so open the bank account with them and get the credit cards 4-5 months after, same applies with lloyds as well.
  • Do you have a credit card with Halifax already?
