House Purchase Problems

Hello all,
We had an offer accepted on a house we really like (hooray!) but now the estate agents are threatening to put it back on the market. Why? Because of terrible delays in arranging the mortgage - not down to us.
I will not bore you with all the lengthy delays that have happened so far, but the latest issue is that our mortgage broker at London & Country promised he would submit the amended application on Friday and that he would call me back that afternoon - but instead, he has become completely uncontactable, and his colleagues cannot determine from the records whether he has submitted our amended application or not! I have called up L&C many times but can't get anything useful out of them. What can I do? I don't anticipate any problems with the mortgage as we have a large deposit and our mortgage is small relative to our income, but this is now really scary.
Plus, the vendors seems worried that we are just wasting their time. How can I reassure them that we are serious?

When did you put the offer in? Do you have an AIP from the lender?0
-
Yes, we have an AIP.
The offer was accepted on September 29th - almost a month ago now. I don't blame them for being skittish.0 -
Can you get a new broker? Have you told the EA that you are keen and this isn't you getting cold feet?0
-
So you instructed L&C to put in the full application straight away, and they only said they'd do it three weeks later?0

It's the effect of being Fee free, they stack them up to get enough commission with no care on quality.
If you can I would consider getting a new broker ASAP and hope your vendor doesn't pull out. I would have started to ask questions after a week or two regarding the application.
I would also write a letter of complaint and leave reviews on review websites detailing your poor service."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

@kellaree: I am considering getting a new broker, but I am worried that this will end up costing more time not saving it. And yes, I have told the EA that we are keen and not getting cold feet, but I do not know if he believes me.
@habssac: No, as I indicated in the OP, there were previous delays. The broker kept being on the point of submitting, then realising they needed 'just one more piece' of paperwork, or that the scans were in .png form and they needed .pdf, and so on. Then the lender needed me to have a current account with them, and it took more than two weeks to set up a current account because they lost my application, then they didn't send out the paperwork for me to sign to complete the setting-up. I have spent a huge amount of time chasing them, being given contradictory information, etc.0 -
Ring the lender yourself and ask if the application is in. You shouldn't have to, but at least then you'll know.0

Well actually you have wasted time even if it was not your fault. As a seller in an area where property moves fast I would be moving onto a new purchaser too.
So, talk with the vendor, explain the issues and hope they stick with you.0
