but the link between processed meats and cancer is not news. it's been known for years and years. so is the link between charred meats and cancer. which is why too frequent BBQs is NOT healthy.

    Yup.

When I went to work in my first job I was told about carcinogens in food, esp. burnt or well-done food. I think this was intended to make me feel better about the carcinogens in the chemicals I was handling!

This is not why I eat my steaks rare:rotfl: although I do ask those I am with if the blood on my plate will be an issue:cool: and if it will I select something else:T

Apparently vegetables can give you cancer too :rotfl:

(edit: just realised that link doesn't take you to the actual news story, but it is an old story from the Guardian website about how nitrates in veggies can cause cancer!)

There are just so many things that can contribute to cancer, I don't think it'd be much of a fun life if I avoided every single one! I LOVE bacon, so won't be giving it up, and will probably continue to eat quite a lot of it :o
