Question re Paypal/Silverlight

This morning, when I logged into my Paypal a/c there was a message saying "This site uses a plugin (Silverlight) that will soon be unsupported".
I don't really understand what plugins are, but should I use a different browser when I use PP in futiure? Is it a security thing or simply something that makes it work? I currently use Opera.

The problem is with Paypal using Silverlight. In future (if Opera stops supporting it - Chrome already has) then you may need to use Internet Explorer (or the Edge browser if you have Windows 10) or Firefox if it still supports Silverlight.
However Paypal works fine for me in Chrome, so I guess Paypal have already accommodated browsers that down't support Silverlight.0 -

So when Opera stops supporting it and if PP doesn't make the appropriate changes necessary PP will simply not be accessible, and I'll have to use another browser to access PP.

You shouldn't need Silverlight for paypal. AFAIK you haven't needed it for it for a while now.Drinking Rum before 10am makes you

I think you misunderstood me ... if Opera stop supporting the Sliverlight plugin you'll likely get the non-Silverlight version of the PP page presented to you - the same as Chrome users now see.
