Anyone used Repaircare for an appliance repair?

Hi,
Has anyone used Repaircare for a fixed price appliance repair?
We have a Whirlpool American style fridge freezer with what we suspect is a heater fault on the defrost section on the freezer. We have been quoted over £300 just for the heater (not including fitting).
Appliancecare are showing a flat rate price of £215, which seems too good to be true. Has anyone had an appliance repaired and do they fix one problem or any and all problems with the appliance (bulb gone in the fridge and the control panel is flashing intermittently as well)?
Is it worth the money or should we just hold out until we can afford a separate upright fridge and freezer?
Thanks in advance

Yes, stay well clear!!! I have waited almost 3 months for a part. The engineer arrived and said that he needed to order a part for my washing machine. He promised to call me back the next day and never did. I left it 2 weeks and still nothing! I called them every 2 weeks for almost 3 months and they still say they are waiting for the part to arrive. I haven't had one courtesy call in 3 months. I have tried demanding a refund for my call out but they are not refunding me. To make matters worse, they are not answering calls from my house phone or mobile now. I have a gut feeling that this company is run out of a small call centre somewhere with a few members of staff. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. It is now with my bank for an indem claim.0

I am assuming this is the same company, and there are one or two reviews on this site, more good than bad.

In their T&Cs:
http://www.repaircare.co.uk/repair/help/terms-conditionsWhat's included?
Parts (when required) up to the value of £250
And:.We reserve the right to cancel a fixed price repair if on evaluation or during the repair:
a.We estimate that the cost of parts required is greater than £250.
So, if you need a £300 part, RepairCare won't fix it for you.
They do say that their pricing for parts is based on those charged by http://www.buyspares.co.uk/, so find your part on there - maybe it'll be cheaper than the £300 you've been quoted.
It says you'd get a full refund if they come out and it's beyond economical repair (ie parts more than £250), so you have nothing to lose. Are you sure it's the expensive part you need? Maybe their engineer would find it's actually something else that's wrong?0 -
Thanks for taking the time to reply. It's become irrelevant now as my husband lost his job over Christmas so we can't afford the repair anyway!0

I have been waiting weeks for a refund and they have not bothered. I had to do an Indemnity claim with my bank to get my money back.0

6 out of the 20 reviews on the first page people have had terrible experiences with them. So yes, most are good, but that's like saying an ebayer with 15,000 feedback and only 1,000 negatives is ok when it is not.0
