you could pick up books by popular authors at boot sales, they'd come for as little as 20-25p from a boot sale, just take a trip, see what's available and try and make a sound judgement0

you need to tell youtr partner you cant do this alone, minimise your spending to a bare minimum them search your house for anything you can sell,
what skills do you have can you offer your services in the local paper to dog walk babysit etcNot setting myself any comp targets this year, didnt seem to work last year!!! £120.98/£2008
2009/ maybyliene eyeshadow, rimmel polish, loreal foundation, Glamour: hairbrush
boots card =2625
quidoco= 110.00
Thanks to all that take the time to post0 -
Tell your partner, first of all. You can't go through this alone, it'll only make you worse. Head over to the Debt Free Wannabe board as well, they'll be able to help you!"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

we started our business years ago selling 2nd hand kids clothes an shoes from car boot sales, nice things (not designer), that I would be comfortable my kids having, as a Mum you know how much they are in shops, so should have a good idea when you see them at car boot sales, then you can take the photos and list them0

Thanks for all your advice guys.0

I tend to go for vintage/ retro items, e.g.
Vintage toys, especially complete sets which have easily losable bits (e.g. a Big Yellow Teapot with all original contents will sell well, but empty ones are worth very little), and toys relating to old TV programmes. Good vintage leather bags, especially school satchels. Early Harry Potter memorabilia. Out of print books (steer clear of bestsellers which are still in print but not recent, unless 1st Ed etc: by the time you add p&p, the charity shops are undercutting you so they're hard to sell). Early NOW (That's What I Call Music) CDs. Almost any unusual 1960s items in psychedelic colours. Old catalogues. Vintage cowboy/ pixie/ pirate boots.
You can probably also sell your kids' outgrown clothes etc and put the money towards new ones. Study Completed Listings to get an idea of what's selling, and which items to list individually or in lots. Don't use phrases like "as new" or "like new" in titles, because ebay may remove them under keyword spamming rules.
Use Gallery pictures for most items, especially clothes and decorative wares: it's worth the extra 15p. Other listing upgrades are probably a waste of money. Photograph and describe your goods thoroughly, and for items which benefit from more than one photo, you can download Turbo Lister or Auctiva and add extra web-hosted phtotos (I use Photobucket for mine) for free.
You may also find the Debt Free Wannabe board helpful. It's full of supportive people with experience of dealing with debt.0 -
I would highly recommend you head for the debt-free wanabee board before you do anything. They have sound, knowledgable advice on their regardless of your circumstances. They also help with the emotional and moral support. Don't worry, you won't be judged, and you will be helped! Good luck.3 kids(DS1 6 Nov, DS2 8 Feb, DS3 24 Dec) a hubby and two cats - I love to save every penny I can!

I worked nights like you and ended up being ill (fell asleep at the wheel of the car on the way home and ended up in hospital) because I couldn't work nights and sort the kids out, and run a home etc etc I now work part-time (15 hours a week term time) and supplement my income by buying from car boots and selling on ebay. Try selling some of the stuff the kids have grown out of. Happy Street, fisher price, tiny tears, baby born/baby annabel clothing goes well. Get some experience and find your niche you will be suprised at what sells. I sell 150 items a month at £3 per item profit.
It all helps and soon adds up. Good Luck with it all x

Thanks, for your reply , I have a job it is only 12 hours term time , but I am gonna have a real go at ebay, and I am resigning from the nights as from now, I'd rather spend a morning or 2 scouring boot sales and selling on ebay from home, and being with my family. You have been an inspiration thankyou so much, I am now really determined , and am actually going through the house now for bits to sell, debt free days here we come!0
