Redundency Retirement and being 65

Options
Next year I'll be 66 years old.
Also, I'll be made redundant and will retire next year
I live in private rented accommodation. There might be issues in relation to my home that will come from the landlord.
I've had my heart restarted several times. My eyes have been operated on. Other parts of me have not been working properly.
This is a new stage in my life.
What do you believe I should be thinking about?
Thank you.

Try to secure your home before you retire and then start enjoying life.

You live alone? you might want to think about sheltered accommodation, where help is available if you need it.

Have you got family nearby? You might wish to move closer to them. What are the issues from the Landlord? You need to know that you have a secure and safe home. Try and resolve the issues now, or move. Have you had a pension forecast, do you know how much you will be getting? How much will your redundancy be, will it pay for a house move?

    I love skip diving.
    :D
  • The advice about pension forecast and looking at alternatives to where you live are all very valuable. It may be worth booking appointment at Citizens Advice or looking at websites suchas Age UK.

Is there any way you can improve your health? I made a very conscious effort to lose weight (about 3 stone) in 2012. I am now 10 stone and feel much better for it - a size 12, for me with room to put a hand in my trouser waistband. There are lots of ways of doing this - for me 5:2 as giving up alcohol non negotiable. I make sure I swim twice a week and walk (walk - not run) 10,000 paces per day - that = 1.30 hours elective walk plus normal activity round house walking round supermarket.
