Are My IE11 Security Settings Right?

Options
I wish I could say I understood the relevance of these settings but I'm clueless. Looking at IE11's (Win7) Advanced Settings, the security section has all 3 'Use TLS 1.0, 1.1 & 1.2' settings ticked but neither of the 2 'Use SSL 2.0 & 3.0' settings are. Is this correct and what do these settings do?

Dave, some sites (for shopping, etc.) now use SSL2 and/or 3, so you need to tick them...paypal for example :)

Thanks Gunjack, interesting about SSL still in use. I've just done a bit of further googling and found references to SSL being phased out in preference to TLS so I might just leave things alone ... might explain why MS leave SSL un-ticked by default.

I did also experiment with un-ticking TLS 1.0 and 1.1 just leaving 1.2 ticked. Most websites still worked but notably MyVirginMedia (who I'm with) didn't ... it actually came up with a message saying I should have all 3 TLS boxes ticked ... and sure enough when I re-ticked them the website opened.

Mind you, there is a long thread running in the VM forums about their servers not being very secure and the continued need for TLS1.0 perhaps proves the point, I don't know. I just hope VM aren't going to be the next ISP to be cyber-attacked!

and this is the trouble - when standards change the world just doesn't catch up quick enough, so you end up with all versions in use by different parties...keep 'em all ticked ;)
