Ha unfortunately it's in London so that means a 1 bed with a 40 min commute to work! The only thing stopping me from freaking out about it is that I've had it for six months only and in that time the value has gone up 30k (based on zoopla estimates and two other flats selling for that price in my block).
No diary yet though as I'm really just a lurker still. Am saving for my wedding now as well so don't think I'll start a diary until after the big day! It's inspiring to read about your MFW journey in the mean timeMortgage Oct '20: £615k

Hi Petal,
Crikey a 1 bed for that much. Well i guess its London and if youve already made 30 K on it great. Your never gonna lose out buying in the capital. Great investment. Will it be your forever pad or will you move on ?
I was a lurker for 2 years and finally decided its good for morale to have a diary.
Thanks for the encouraging words. When you start a thread i will subscribe to it.(09.07.15) £[STRIKE]178,501.43 [/STRIKE] (21.10.15) [/STRIKE]£170,810.26:)166,3510 -
I'm afraid this is just the first step on the ladder for me! Am in my 20s so once it's time for babies I guess I'll be trading it for something bigger. Is this your forever home you are paying off?
Can't wait to start the MFW life properly but in the mean time I'm just OP'ing £100/month as even that will cut down my 40 year mortgage by 6 years!Mortgage Oct '20: £615k

Hi , wow great start in your 20's ! I hope you get something bigger you love eventually.
Yes im paying off my forever home. Im renting it out as i work Internationally and its my retirement home the quicker its paid the quicker i can stop work FT and have a cushy part time job and live in it.
Yes OP all you can even if it a few extra pounds like £102.78 or whatever you can spare as all this will save so much in interest. I wish id started overpaying when i was younger but my career etc was at the stage i am now but i could of at least paid £100 pm like you are doing.
So well done . Excellent.
I love my house its detatched and quite a large place. Its my dream to pay off the mortgage and live there and spend my days doing DIY and growing veg and drinking homemade wine in the garden..
Im very excited about this !
40 year mortgage ? WOWZER i didnt know they existed .
Best of luck with that. You must have nerves of steel.(09.07.15) £[STRIKE]178,501.43 [/STRIKE] (21.10.15) [/STRIKE]£170,810.26:)166,3510 -

i was offered a 35-40 year mortgage i guess it depends how old you are
i think its a good idea to if you can OP fast and quick and pay it off in under 10 years means your normal payments would be really low depending on your borrowing :]Mortgage--- [STRIKE]£67700 March 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65221 April 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64983 July 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£64780 sept 15[/STRIKE] Remortgage [STRIKE]£67295 oct 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£66599 Nov 15[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£65878.73 Dec 15[/STRIKE][STRIKE] £64834 1st Jan 16[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Feb 16 £64,511.89[/STRIKE][STRIKE] March 16 £64,056.40[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]April 16 £62550[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]May 16 £62,396.20[/STRIKE] Feb 17 £60.800

Hi just popped in to say - well done on starting your diary, keeps a good check on all your o/p's and ideas of what you have done to earn extra pennies. Sometimes I don't even recognise my own diary - its as if someone else has written it .

Do you have anything that you could sell on eB@y perhaps? Or perhaps rather than earning more you could reduce some expenses? I find that my biggest expenditure each month is my grocery bill so I'm trying to cut that down at the moment, but you maybe have a pricey Sky package or something that you could live without and put the difference towards your mortgage each month?Mortgage Oct '20: £615k
