Missing files

My son saved a file to the video folder of his laptop yesterday. It was there last night but seems to have disappeared today. On checking the properties of the video folder it says there are 4 files but only 2 are visible. I have checked show hidden files in explorer but the video is still not shown. There is no option to go to previous versions.
We would appreciate any advice.

Have a look using DOS. (Properties of a folder will always give +1 more than the number of files there...)0

Thanks grumpycrab I've had a look and it's not listed. I also searched for the file name there and nothing came up. I think it may be completely lost

Right-click on each file within folder and check its capacity in properties, then right-click on folder and see if capacity is the same or more.“Learn from the mistakes of others. You can never live long enough to make them all yourself.”

Thanks Pendragon-Arthur, there is a difference. There is more capacity in the folder properties but not nearly enough for the missing file.0
