Glass for log burner
Our cassette log burner has developed a crack across the glass even though we've not used it since last winter and have still not used it.
I've looked at various web sites for a new piece, but the cheapest I can find is £80 and that does not include delivery.
We live Herne Bay, Kent. Can any one tell me where we called get a new piece of glass, with out the cost breaking the bank. We are on pension credit, so the cost of replacing the glass is critical.

Would any piece of heat resistant glass do? (of the correct size & thickness)
Have you tried ebay? If anyone is selling it, they probably are doing so on ebay.
Perhaps look for the same model log burner that is being sold as faulty, for spares or repair.
Ensure to check with the seller in such circumstance that the glass is in one piece before commiting to purchase.
Edit: Did a quick look on ebay - looks like there are loads of vendors of replacement heat resistant glass suitable for wood burning stoves.
Typical price seems about £20 (inc p+p) for something 180mm x 250mm x 4mm
Various sizes available, and some vendors will cut to your required size0 -
Have looked on ebay, no luck, don't know what the make is as it was here when we moved in and I've not seen any like it.0

Oh well, if it's not on ebay, chances are it's not sold anywhere.0

You'll need to measure the glass if you don't know what make the stove is. Plenty of places doing mail order - I've used http://www.fastglassdirect.co.uk/custom-sized-glass-detail.html
a number of times - always had good service. As a guide, a piece 180 x 250mm would be less than £32 - that includes VAT, delivery and seals. Hope that helps!0 -
Ours is 495 x 350 it's not going to be cheap.0

Could you let me know who the seller was please, I have asked for some quotes of ebay sellers, just waiting for replies.
Thanks0 -
First seller I looked at, who will cut to your specific size, has an indicated price for a piece 524mm x 330mm of £45.00
Unless I got real lucky, I'm sure if you were to do a bit of searching, you could probably get it even cheaper.
Could you let me know who the seller was on ebay please, so I can ask for a quote. Thanks0
