HSBC Switch 8 weeks to open Account?

I started the process of opening HSBC account online at end of August with intention of taking up switch offer. Finally after 8 weeks the account is open, one of the slowest ever account openings.

It appears the switch offer is no longer? The whole reason for opening the account was to pick up the switch offer.

Where do I stand?

You start with checking the copy of the T&C that were in force when you applied and that you surely saved.

Some press release that I found in this thread: HSBC's New £120 Switch Offer , says:
A full switch must be completed using CASS within two months of the date of opening an HSBC Advance Bank Account. £1,750 must be paid into the Advance account each month in the first two months after opening the account ...
What I see is that you have to switch within two months of the date of opening, not of the date you applied. IMO, it's their fault that they dragged their feet for two months, so you have to stick to your guns and demand the bonus if you fulfilled all requirements.

8 weeks? Pah ;) its just taken me 11 weeks to get one open with them.

As grumbler has already rightly said you have 2 months from date of opening, not date of applying. So where you stand is you still have nearly 2 months to get the switch done & if they kick up then remind the of the wording that grumbler has kindly quoted from the link & you should have also received in printed form from HSBC during your application process.
Thats what i'll be doing also.

But the offer has now finished hasn't it? So if it's 2 months from account opening which was only last week I would be too late?

Offer finished for new applications. It was in force when you applied.
So if it's 2 months from account opening which was only last week I would be too late?
If it's 2 months from account opening which was last week, then you have ~7 weeks ahead.

Regardless, they are likely to fob you off and with such defeatist attitude you are unlikely to get the bonus.

Did you receive a copy of the switching offer terms and conditions confirming your eligibility during your application?

    Mine that I received, and have kept, state the following eligibility criteria;
    - you apply for an HSBC Advance Bank Account during the offer period
    - the HSBC Advance Account you apply for is successfully opened
    - you are not an existing HSBC current account holder when you apply for your HSBC Advance Account (offer is open to First Direct and/or M&S Bank current account holders)
    - you complete a full switch of a current account to your HSBC Advance Account using the current account switch service within 2 months of the date your HSBC Advance Account is opened
    - you pay at least £1750 a month into your HSBC Advance Account in each of the first 2 months after your account is opened, excluding money transferred from any other sole or joint accounts with HSBC Bank
    - your HSBC Advance Account is not converted to another type of account or closed before the date we make the offer payment

    Best of luck to you.
I'm looking forward to speaking to the HSBC switch team tomorrow and hoping they work slightly quicker than account opening have appeared to.
