Vodafone have searched my credit file

HI

I've just had a look at my latest credit report and i have noticed that Vodafone have checked my file three times this year. Next to the entry it states 'anti ML' or words to that affect. Why would they do this?

I am a long standing customer of Vodafone with no defaults on my account. It concerns me that they carry out a search for this reason because I'm worried that somebody else is using my details or something? Advice appreciated.

Because of course a mobile phone account is a fantastic asset for money launderers.

    MLP strikes again.

Thanks - it's quite alarming to see something like that on your credit file though and esepcially from a mobile phone provider.

I understand that. But why select random accounts?

I was being sarcastic. I know it's the lowest form of wit, so apologies.

Apologies accepted. I've done a bit more digging and realise that this sort of thing happens all the time as part of verifying someones identify. I hadn't come across it before. Hence my post.
