Jet 2.com - charges

Can anyone help.

I recently booked flights with Jet2 for a total of £136.00.

I paid by credit card and was charged £1.75 for using the credit card but on checking my confirmation it turns out that they have charged me £7 for using the credit card.

I phoned their call centre to query and was informed that they charge you £1.75 per person per journey for paying by credit card therfore equalling £7 and 80p per person per journey for paying by debit card.

Can they do this? I didnt think they could as it was 1 payment .

Easyjet does this too, it's more common nowadays. They even charge per person per flight in some cases

That is what they do at Jet2, a bit sneaky as it gets added on right at the end, but it is visible before you submit your payment.

I thought I would get around the cc charge by paying by debit card, wrong !! they charged me 80p per sector per person, also they now charge £5 per person per sector for baggage, so on top of the flight which is now advertised as including all taxes and charges I had to pay £20 baggage and £3.20 debit card fee. The annoying thing is you don't find out until you reach the payment stage.
So our flight from LBA to Tenerife next week ended up at £437.60 for the two of us, not a cheap airline any longer :-(

    My mistake, sorry :-(

I used my visa debit card, which means they would get my money straight away out of my current account.
I don't think that should incur a charge.

Be very careful with Jet2 re being over your weight limit, we went to Tenerife last year with them, we were three pounds over between us, £15, please!

I was told last week by our holiday rep. never to pay excess baggage charges by cash as the money is split between the ground staff, he said it was true as he used to work for an airline.

We were caught last week coming back from Vancouver, too, , with My Travel, they charge $16 (£8) per kilo! Never again will I travl with that bunch!

What! Jet2 still measure in pounds! Thank goodness MyTravel are metric!

Anyway, as has been posted on here many times, don't complain if you book with a budget airline and get charged for excess baggage. It's not some sort of secret conspiracy, it's right in your face when you book.

Terms and conditions are not make believe, you sign up to them when you book.

    READ THE BRIEF!!!!!!!

All airlines charge around £5 per kilo short-haul. Why is it unreasonable to charge £8 per kilo long-haul? Obviously the extra fuel cost of carrying excess baggage is higher the further you travel.
  • About to book some flights myself using this company and a visa debit card - so will get charged 80p per person is this correct? Also I personally have never booked flights separate from hotel - when you say £5 for baggage, does this mean £5 per "case" and £5 for each piece of "hand luggage" or £5 per person in total for whatever they take? Is it only an individual's case that has to be under their weight requirements or an individual's hand luggage and case? Hope you know what I mean (I know probably should be under a different thread but does all the above apply to BMI baby too)?

    Thanks in advance.
