fake registration spam alert

Not sure if this is in the right place, but as it involves fake registrations, I thought it relevant to us compers.
I've started getting lots of emails (the last one was from a supposed cat lovers site) giving me a temporary password, and registration number, and asking me to change the details within 24 hours.
I haven't clicked through, as my security told me the link was to a wellknown phishing site, but I was nearly taken in, as I can't always remember which sites I've registered with when entering competions.
So just wanted to warn everyone, especially anyone new to this, to watch out.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Thanks for that Elsien.
I too have had a spate over the last few days claiming to be from Joke-a-day and other such sites.
I don't think they're directly related to any comps sites as they are coming through on my private email and not my comping one but very annyoing all the same.
Best wishes

Thanks for the info. I also have been having "change your details" emails, however, I never click the links.
If it is a site known to me - I always visit the site independently.
If it is a site not know to me, I report the email as a phishing scamI'm a nutter :j0 -
I've been getting emails on my work address (not used on here or anywhere apart from work) from someone saying I have got an ecard from a mate, brother, auntie!"Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile."

Yep me too!
I am very careful what I register for & where I leave my details & have never had this before. It must be a recent comp I've entered. Bit woried cos my OH has started having these also & I almost never enter for him except for the MFI, Travel Mail £10,000 & the Sure Chloe handbag one! Thanks to all who post comps :A :T0 -
Over the last week i have been inundated with junk emails, especially from something called 'reward confirmation' saying i have won all sorts of things (i haven't by the way, you click through and then you have to complete offers) on the bottom of the emails it says 'benefits wizard' and you have to click to unsubscribe from the emails. However, it only unsubscribes you to that particular email, not all of them, and you then get about 20 more! It's starting to really annoy me!0

Whatever you do, don't open those ones, they're viruses, allegedly.

Yeah my mate passed on an email which said these were viruses. A few of us at work has been getting them so I know it's nothing to with the freebies or comps I enter as I don't use my work email only my MSN account for those."Never frown, even when you are sad, because you never know who is falling in love with your smile."- Jeep off roading trial - was fantastic - Freebie
