In car music problems with iPhone 6

Hello
Have been playing Spotify via a USB lead in my 13 plate Corsa for ages on my iPhone 6. Recently after the last Apple software update it won't recognise the USB anymore and subsequently the music won't play. We have tried it in another car and it wont play in there either. We tried an iPhone 5 that was updated with the latest Apple download and that still works ok via a USB. Has anyone come across this and solved it. We can play it using an auxiliary lead in the headphone socket on the phone but the quality is not the same. I don't have Bluetooth for music only phone calls.
