Any point in pursuing potential 15 year old PPI?

In the late 90's early 00's I had a Mastercard, Barclaycard and First Direct Credit card. I got into quite deep financial trouble with these and have a recollection of going into the Barclays branch to speak to someone about claiming on unemployment cover. I was self-employed at this time and was told I was ineligible.

I suspect this may have been PPI, but no longer have any remaining paperwork from these cards. Is there any point in trying to pursue these claims? I would assume that the card providers will have long since ditched details of accounts that were closed somewhere in the region of 12 years ago.

Regards,
Jason.

What made you ineligible as most credit card PPI does cover self employed. Some have onerous conditions but self employment would rarely make you ineligible.

You are free to make your complaint. late 90s may have limited information but there may be some.

Firstly, contact all those providers and ask them to check their systems using your full name, DOB, and previous addresses, they might have an account number or some other records of you. Phone their dedicated PPI helplines, the phone numbers are usually shown on the websites. If they cannot find anything send a DSAR to each lender for a more in depth search.
  • I claimed off barclaycard when they bought out access "you flexible freind" they added PPI on the switch that dated back to the 80's so I suggest yes
