Grant from the OU

Hi i'm new to this board i am starting my degree in oct with the OU and have just recieved a letter informing me i may be able to get a grant for help with a pc and internet access now since i am posting here it is obvious i have a pc and internet access but with two teenagers in the house my time on the pc can be limited at times so i dont know if i should apply for the pc grant to get a pc for uni stuff only, but i feel that i would be taking money away from some student who really is strugling with no pc and needs the grant far more than me but tbh the thought of a pc which i can get the use out of is a good thought,so i guess this is more a moral dilema

  • Hi elly. These grants are provided to all students who meet the criteria; there's no limit on the number so you wouldn't be depriving anyone. I believe when you sign the form you have to agree that you don't have regular access to a computer suitable for your studies (can't remember the exact wording), so you'll have to decide whether, morally, you can agree to those terms. Quite possibly you can, if your access is limited by the teenagers!

    Good luck with your degree.
