Dress can't be washed or dry cleaned! What to do?

My friends buy a lot of second hand clothing and for underarm smells they get a damp cloth with vinegar or vodka and press or bang the area until it is damp. Repeat the process with cold water and dry. I've tried it with vinegar with suits that I just wanted to freshen without taking to the dry cleaner and it's worked well.0

It didn't! Yet! Only because I had a load of washing that had to get done and was out and about all day. Only had time to get two lots done and out to dry. And most of it is still damp as it is cold and stayed a bit damp all day. Will give it a go in the machine tomorrow. IF I remember to buy colour catchers!
Good tip about sweaty armpit smells. Mind you, now that I don't have teenage school shirts to do I don't really need to but I'm sure someone will.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These

The deed is done!
Gorgeous day today so I went off to Asda and got some of their own brand colour catcher sheets. Put the dress in the machine on a cold wash, in a pillowcase, normal detergent and 4 of the sheets.
IT WORKED! THE DRESS HAS COME OUT PERFECTLY! It is on the line in the sunshine looking like new.
Thanks for all the advice guys. I think it definitely was a case of it being worth the risk. I bought it for not very much on eBay, it wasn't wearable as it was and the whole thing needed cleaned rather than just a few spots.

Do what they suggest - and on their head be it if it mucks it uptheoretica wrote: »Adding salt to the water can help reduce colour running.
