Where do you live?
I often find local shops offer the best service for things like that ie faster delivery and doing you a favour by taking the old one away.
The council in my area will take matresses away for free. You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *0 -

try ebay , i got a really good mattress at a reasonable price
i think it was from bedzone ,
ask your council to take away your old mattress0 -
very few bed places will remove the old matress. they dont wont to soil the van and any new stock with a doubtfull matress of unknown hygiene.
and you cant blame them.

i think its best not to just get a cheap one! but one that best suits your back.! cos you will be using all the time! health before purse..
why not check the usual large furniture and bed stores..that advertise on tv..smile everyday...cos its free

Hi sunshineD,
For a new mattress, lots of people on MSE have recommended www.mattressman.co.uk I doubt if they'll take the old one away though so it might be best to get in touch with your local council for that.

I know that many people are very wary about buying items like beds from ebay. However if you follow a few guidelines then you can save up to 75% on the shop prices:
1) most important of all make sure that the seller gives a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
2) check previous feedback for the seller, and even contact previous customers to ask them about the seller.
3) use a company who display their phone number, so that you can talk to someone about your requirements (they want you to make the righ choice because it will cost them if you return it).
4) check the sellers return policy. Many sellers charge for postage on returns.....can work out very expensive if you have unpacked a vacuum packed mattress, and you don't like it.
5) try to use a seller who delivers using their own transport. Couriers often damage or misplace goods (believe me I know from experience).
Obviously you can't try before you buy, but for the saving it is worth the risk if you follow the guidelines above.
