I saved some important emails to a .pst file and transferred that file to a different PC.
I am now trying to access it but a password is required.
I did not create a password when making the file and am baffled as to why I can't open it without one.
I am using Outlook 2010 and Windows 7.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Are you trying to open it directly from File Manager or did you Import the .pst file via Outlook?

This seems to be a fairly common problem when moving pst files between machines.

So far I have been unable to import the file to Outlook. I have even tried compressing it and emailing it to myself but it is still too large for my ISP's limit.
I'll have a look at the advice in your link.

I eventually imported and opened the file after much trial and mainly error .
It finally allowed access after entering just the letter "t" in the password field, which was rejected, and then randomly entering four lower case letters and a four number password.
Totally baffling.Forgotten but not gone.0
