What now?

I've cut down all my monthly outgoings to the cheapest on the market (or best value for money taking into account customer service if need-be), stopped using credit, switched bank accounts to one that doesn't screw me, gone sim-free and started shopping as and when required and cooking at home.

Any other ways to boost my expendable? :p

[As a side note, has anyone else noticed that there seems to be snorts of derision in their direction if they talk about saving money on their bills? I happily talk about switching to the best value etc and people seem to take pity on me or something! I'm currently at least £300 a month better off than I was a year ago from bills alone so I don't mind what people say, but just seems funny the way culture is.]

  • I'd recommend reading on minimalism. Initially, my personal decisions were not voluntary, however I came to like living without a car (cycling to work made me fitter and happier) and with only few posessions. I can now better focus on what matters the most in my life.

I can't see that this is a relevant topic for this board, try Deft Free Wannabe if you want advice on cutting down, or Discussion Time if you simply want a debate.

I'm assuming the snorts of derision are from outside MSE, I can't see anyone on this site making such negative comments so I'd just ignore them and know you're the one benefiting. On a few local groups I've seen loads of moans and comments about the 5p cost of plastic bags but I bet the same people are paying over the odds for bills without a thought. Bizarre world!

Boosting income by getting switching bonuses for bank accounts, making sure you have savings and are getting the best rates for them. All ways to boost income if you've already looked at cutting spending.
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.
