Its a strange thing. The people selling these are running some good , worthy companies too , and seem to mix with the great and the good, war heroes, mp”s and all that sort of thing. Apparently they sponser good causes as well. Makes you womder .
Isn't that what people always say when they find out the truth about such people? - "he was a pillar of the community, supported local good causes, I can't believe he could have been involved in something like this."

    With other people's money.

Any financial company (or director of one) that makes a big deal of how much of other people's money they give to charity should be viewed with extreme suspicion, and this includes the obviously legitimate ones.

Jesus Christ told his followers to do their good works in secret for a very good reason.

I give a pass to those who spend money on sports sponsorship, as everyone knows this is a tax-efficient perk for the senior management.

Very Sage. You have a great way of cutting through to the heart of the matter.

I'm not sure corporate hospitality and prize sponsorship for horse racing can be classed as good causes, well apart from it being good for the person getting the cash.

No, i was referring to the people selling the bonds, apparently they are patrons of armed forces charities ,and run courses for ex military people to help them etc. But i take on board Malthusiasns points

Looks like the authorities in the USA went the whole way with this Ponzi scheme and those responsible. Note the "investing the money in related companies". Remind you of another company closer to home?

There seems to be heaps of these companies on google, all with the same wording of being asset backed, independent security trustee and 8%+ return. I wouldn't be surprised if billions are involved. Some investments involve wind farms (do they exist?) and sustainable forestry. They all have the same blurb to each other.

All change at the security trustees. No longer owned by a Maltese company the shares are now owned by the directors

Thats good. It would be great if the fca took a similar approach to those who have been disadvantaged.
