To me, because it is actually formulated as a response, it looks to a casual bystander that they are covered. The question was ‘please confirm that i am covered’ ...and the answer, although not specific to the question, is affirmative.

Ps it looks like lcf will be covered on ‘rip off britain ‘ this wed at 9am.

I agree it looks like that but that was a mistake and the point is they already bought a "bond" for a fixed period of several years so the answer didn't affect the action they took because they'd already taken it . They didn't read that reply and then decide to invest as a result.

This is the danger of asking a suggestive question. What do you suppose the answer would have been if Adrian had instead asked "is my investment in mini-bonds issued by LCF covered by the FSCS?"

AnotherJoe is correct that even though this response is capable of misleading, it did not contribute to the loss suffered by the bondholder because it was obtained after having invested in the bonds, which could not have been sold prior to the collapse of LCF.

Yes, that worked, but this message only states when the FSCS would become involved, not that they will in this case or that any compensation will be paid in respect of LCF mini-bonds.

Now I can see the response to a query but not the query and it doesn't appear to be the one you've paraphrased above.

A bond holder is using a company called Shearman & Sterling to put pressure on the FSCS to try and recover money.I have been emailed a copy of a letter that the company sent to the FSCS detailing the case for the bond holders case for compensation.
Had any one else seen the letter or know anything about the company.

Copy the text in the email, go to the "quick reply" box into which you type, and paste.
No attachments involved. If the letter is in an attachment, open that first and then copy the text from within it.

The letter is a attachment with 10 pages ,apparently it was drafted by the son of a bond holder who works for the solicitors.
I have been told it’s on one of the bond holders Facebook groups ,I am no longer on Facebook.
